How many books may I check out?

Kindergarten...............	1 book for 1 week
1st grade....................	1 book for 1 week
2nd grade...................	2 books for 2 weeks
3rd grade...................	3 books for 2 weeks
4th grade...................	3 books for 2 weeks
5th grade...................	3 books for 2 weeks

When may I come to the Library Media Center?
You may visit the Media Center anytime it is open provided you have permission from your teacher. The Media Center is also open mornings from 8:05 until 8:30 for quick check

out, book renewal or book return. Please remember to check in with your
teacher prior to visiting the Media Center in the morning.

How do I renew my books?
Books can only be renewed if you bring them to the Media Center. You may renew your books once beyond the initial check out period. If you need them longer for a project or report, you must get approval from School Librarian.

I only have one book overdue, may I still check out?
No. Even with one book listed as overdue on your account, you may not check out additional books until your account is cleared.

I accidentally returned Apex books to the public library!! What now?
No problem - the books will eventually be routed back to our school. This may take some time, though. You will not be able to check out until the book returns.

My book was damaged. I just can't find my book. What do I do?
We stress that students be responsible for their books and keep them in a safe, dry place. If a student loses his/her book, please look everywhere ... your house, child’s classroom/switch classroom, daycare, after school care, car, etc. If the book cannot be found, we will provide you with the replacement cost. Checks should be made payable to Apex Elementary School and you will receive a receipt. Keep your receipt just in case the book is found. Bring the book, together with the receipt, to the Library for refund.

What is Family Reading Night?
Families, siblings and friends are welcome to come to the Media Center to read, return books, check out books or take Accelerated Reader tests. Family Reading Nights are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. throughout the school year.
