PROGRAM

“Help our Teachers to Help our Kids: Be a Project Sponsor!”

Many of our teachers and staff have creative and innovative ideas for new ways to meet the needs of our children. However, they need to find funds to purchase special equipment and materials, or to have their students participate in unique learning experiences. These ideas may be the keys to unlocking the potential in our children!

Interested sponsors can fund an entire project or make a donation towards the funding of a project by submitting a Project Sponsor form to the Apex Elementary PTA Donor Coordinator.

 Donations can be sent to
Apex Elementary PTA
700 Tingen Road, Apex, NC 27502, ATTENTION Donor Coordinator.
Please make checks payable to Apex Elementary P.T.A.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
Deborah Elmore, Donor Coordinator via email at delamorefarm@bellsouth.net or by phone (919) 362-9320.

Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Durkin (CCR):
CCR Store and Pizza Parties.
The CCR Store and Pizza Parties are held on a monthly basis. Students in K-2 earn stickers and grades 3-5 earn Cougar Cash for exceptional behavior, social skills, work habits and efforts while in CCR. Each month they are given the opportunity to spend their money for prizes, game time with the CCR teacher or a pizza lunch. Students learn how to be responsible for their own actions. Students make choices to spend their money or save it for a bigger reward the following month.
On the day of the store, math skills are used as they total up their purchases and make change. Decisions regarding spending or saving need to be made. Letter writing skills are taught when we write thank you letters to the donors. The actual day of the pizza lunch or game time is used to enhance, develop and apply learned social and language skills. During game time, students are taught how to follow rules and wait their turn. Students get to spend structured non-academic time with their CCR peers and this helps build their esteem.

$50.00 per month/$400.00 per year
covers 2 classes

Mrs. Smith (CC1-1st and 2nd grade):
My name is Barbara Smith and I am a Special Education teacher at Apex Elementary teaching 1st and 2nd graders. My student's abilities vary greatly in reading, math, writing and emotional/socialization skills. As a result, I have to plan and implement different lessons according to my student's individual abilities. Children have different learning styles and when they have learning difficulties, it is necessary to use a variety of strategies to teach them as well as teaching them how to use those strategies.
My students will have a lifetime of benefit from these requested items. Learning to read is something that the majority of us take for granted because it comes easy for us. It is vitally important that my students learn to read and write because they are already at a disadvantage due to their learning difficulties.

Ms. Bryant (School Librarian):
The Book Fairy came to the Apex Elementary Media Center! Many thanks to the wonderful donor we have nicknamed the “Book Fairy”! Our children love to read information books about animals, volcanoes, and many other topics (especially science books). Because of your wonderful generosity, we are adding many new books to our library. The children will enjoy exploring new ideas and the teachers will enjoy using many of the same books as they teach in the classroom.
Thank you, thank you, for all the wonderful support!
